Bayern Munich II came into the 2020–21 season as the defending 3. Liga champions.[1]
On 25 August, Holger Seitz became manager of Bayern II.[2] Their season started on 19 September with a 2-2 draw against Türkgücü München.[3][4]
Bayern II finished September in 18th place with a 3–0 loss to SC Verl.[5][6]
They started October with a 3–0 win against Dynamo Dresden on 2 October.[7] With the win, Bayern II jumped up 10 places to eighth place.[8] They then drew their matches against KFC Uerdingen 05[9] and 1. FC Kaiserslautern.[10] The pair of draws dropped Bayern II down to 13th place.[11] Bayern II's only loss in October was against Viktoria Köln.[12] They finished October in 11th place with a 2–0 win against Waldhof Mannheim on 25 October.[13][14]
November started with a 4–2 win against Wehen Wiesbaden on 1 November.[15] However, they went on to lose to 1. FC Magdeburg,[16] VfB Lübeck,[17] FC Ingolstadt 04,[18] and Hansa Rostock,[19] finished November in the relegation zone (17th place).[20]
In December, Bayern II defeated 1. FC Saarbrücken on 13 December,[21] and drew MSV Duisburg on 16 December[22] and SpVgg Unterhaching on 19 December,[23] finishing 2020 in 16th place.[24]
They started 2021 with a 2–0 loss to 1860 Munich on 9 January.[25] Bayern's first win in 2021 came against SV Meppen on 12 January 2021.[26] They finished January in 12th place after a 0–0 draw on 22 January[27][28]
In February, Bayern II won only one out of five matches.[3] The win came against FSV Zwickau on 10 February.[29] Bayern finished February in 11th place following a 1–1 draw against Dynamo Dresden on 24 February.[30][31]
They started March with a 2–2 draw against Waldhof Mannheim on 1 March,[32] and then defeated Wehen Wiesbaden on 7 March.[33] Bayern II finished March with losses to SC Verl,[34] 1. FC Magdeburg,[35] and SV Meppen.[36]
On 2 April, Bayern announced that both Martín Demichelis and Danny Schwarz will replace Seitz as managers.[37] Bayern also announced that Seitz's last match was against VfB Lübeck, where they lost 3–2.[38][39]
Bayern's season ended with a 1-0 loss to Hallescher FC. Finishing the season on 37 points and in 18th place, they were relegated to the Regionalliga.[40]
