The 2024 Holiday Bowl is a college football bowl game scheduled to be played on December 27, 2024, at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego.[2] The 45th annual Holiday Bowl will feature the Syracuse Orange from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the Washington State Cougars from the Pac-12 Conference. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. PST and will air on Fox.[2] It is one of the 2024–25 bowl games concluding the 2024 FBS football season. This will be the first edition of the bowl contested at Snapdragon Stadium.[2] Sponsored by multichannel video programming distributor DirecTV, the game is officially known as the DirecTV Holiday Bowl.
Teams
[edit]The bowl features the Syracuse Orange of the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Washington State Cougars of the Pac-12 Conference.
This is the second meeting between Syracuse and Washington State; the first came in 1979, with the Orange defeating the Cougars 52–25.[3]
Washington State Cougars
[edit]The Cougars enter the game with a 8–4 record (0–1 in the Pac-12), finishing second out of two in their conference.
This is Washington State's fifth Holiday Bowl; the Cougars are 1–3 in their 4 previous appearances, winning in 2003 and losing in 1981, 2016, and 2017.
Syracuse Orange
[edit]The Orange enter the game with a 9–3 record (5–3 in the ACC), tied for fourth place in their conference and ranked 21st in the College Football Playoff rankings.
This is Syracuse's first appearance in the Holiday Bowl.
