The 2025 Athletics season will be the 125th season for the Athletics franchise, and it will be the franchise's first year in West Sacramento at Sutter Health Park as part of their temporary relocation following their recent departure from Oakland and prior to their move to Las Vegas in the next three seasons. As part of the franchise's temporary relocation, they will be known as simply the Athletics and A's during this period of time. This will be the second occasion in recent times that an American major professional sports league franchise has operated without using the name of a local geographical location (the other such example being the now-defunct Chivas USA of Major League Soccer). While their home games are being hosted at Sutter Health Park, they will share the ballpark with the Sacramento River Cats of Minor League Baseball.[A]
