Ajyal TV/TV5 Saudi Ajyal (lit. "generations") was a free-to-air children's television channel owned by the Saudi Broadcasting Authority. It was launched on Eid al-Fitr in 2009. The channel offered a variety of educational and entertaining programs for children of all ages, including cartoons, live-action shows (which are usually in-house productions), in addition to national holidays of Saudi Arabia[1] and religious programs (usually in the month of Ramadan).

History

[edit]

As of January 2024, not much is known about the channel's beginning. The test broadcast beginning was around very late June to very early July.[2] What is known, however, is that the channel launched on Eid al-Fitr of 2009.

In 2014, the channel rebranded with a brand new look. The channel closed in 2018 because the president of the Saudi Broadcasting Authority wanted to merge Ajyal TV with Saudi 1.
