Bandbudh Aur Budbak is an Indian animated comedy television series produced by Aashish Mall, Mayank Patel and Avinash Walzade. It was also produced by Paperboat Animation Studios. It premiered originally on ZeeQ in 2015. It showcases the antics and school life of two naughty friends named Badrinath and Budhdeb.[1]
Characters
[edit]Main characters
[edit]- Badrinath (Badri for short): He is one of the main characters of the show. He's the clever one, always coming up with sneaky ideas to make others fail at things he wants for himself. Despite his mischievous nature, he's loyal to his friendship. He hates studying and going to school-better known as Apna School. Most of the time, he's busy playing Mega Robot, a space video game where he battles aliens. With his messy hair and short stature, he's easy to spot. He is voiced by Pooja Punjabi.
- Budhdeb (Budh for short): Budhdeb is the other main character of the show. Like Badrinath, he’s loyal to his friends and also hates studying or going to school. Sometimes, he struggles to understand things logically and needs basic understanding. His signature catchphrase is “Ekdum Lallantaap!!” (which means “Very Fantastic!”), and even Badrinath uses it now and then. Just like Badri, He too loves playing Mega Robot. He is voiced by Sonal Kaushal.
Other characters
[edit]- Jeeva: Jeeva is a bully and the plumpest boy in class-by both volume and ambition. He speaks with a lisp that somehow makes threats sound scary. Occasionally, he bullies Badrinath and Budhdeb, mostly as payback for all the pranks and jokes they crack about him. Jeeva thinks he’s a powerhouse, but in reality, he’s more of an awkward. However, he’s Mr. Dubey(their class teacher)’s favorite student.
- Gyan: Gyan Singh is the most intelligent student in the class. He always gets the first position, and is the class topper. He gets tricked by Badrinath and Budhdeb though being a sometime-friend of them. Even the teachers get surprised by his knowledge.
- Sabina: Sabina is the monitor of the class. She is very sincere, responsible and wears glasses. She is Gyan's best friend.
- Karan: Karan is an NRI(Non-Resident Indian) and thus speaks with an accent. He always boasts about things that his father brings him from foreign countries (mainly from the USA and London).
- Maira & Saira: Maira and Saira are twins and are the prettiest girls of the school. They are very stylish and mostly speak English. They love to talk about movies.
- Mukesh, Ganesh & Ramesh: Brothers Mukesh,Ganesh & Ramesh are triplets. All of them wear glasses and are identical.
- Dubey: Dubey Ji is the class teacher of Badri and Budh's class. He is quite fat, strict and lazy. He always punishes Badrinath and Budhdeb by making them murga (transl. Rooster) when they act worse or crack jokes in the class or anywhere in the school.
- Rathi: Makkhan Singh Rathi is the principal of Apna School. He has a tall and thin frame. He loves trophies and urges students to get trophies for the school. He comes to school in a yellow car. His dialogue is Aakhir Principal Hai Hum! (transl. After All I'm The Principal!). Ocasionally, he can be lenient or strict. He saves Badrinath and Budhdeb mainly on a coincidence from getting punished by Dubey sir or for other reasons.
- Bindiya: Bindiya Roy is the art teacher of the school. She is from Bengal. She wears glasses and often says Khub Bhalo (transl. Very Good).
- Patel: Patel is the peon of the school. He is quite lazy and sometimes gets tricked by Badrinath and Budhdeb.
- Patil: Patil is the security guard of the school. He mostly has a wooden stick as his weapon. He is quite sincere, responsible and active.
- Yogiraj Ji: Yogiraj Ji, also known as Yoginath Ji, is the yoga teacher of Apna School. He has long hair and a beard like any traditional Hindu sage. He is a parody of Ramdev.
- Krishnan: Krishnan is the chemistry teacher of Apna School. He is sincere, intelligent, and responsible. He often does some experiments which are admirable but Alas, Badri and Budh cause trouble using them sometimes. He's from Kerala.
- Librarian: She is an anonymous teacher. She's in charge of the library and teaches Hindi to the class, as shown in the episode Angrezi Ka Aakraman. Her name isn't mentioned.
- Cinderella: Cinderella is a buffalo, mostly like a friendly pet of Badrinath and Budhdeb. Then often bump into her when they don't ride their cycle carefully, but she doesn't react in any way to them. They mostly meet her near a river which is their favorite spot of timepassing.
