Carribean Fragoza

Carribean Fragoza is an American journalist, writer, and artist. She is the founder and co-director of the arts collective, South El Monte Art Posse (SEMAP).[1] In 2023, she received a Whiting Award for her short story collection Eat the Mouth That Feeds You.[2][3]

Life

She grew up in South El Monte. She is a graduate from the University of California, Los Angeles where she majored in Comparative Literature and Chicana/o Studies.[4] She went on to graduate from the California Institute of the Arts[5] with an M.F.A. in Fiction.[1]
