Eric Erskine Austin[1] (born c. 1969) is a United States Marine Corps lieutenant general who has served as the deputy commandant for combat development and integration and commanding general of the Marine Corps Combat Development Command since August 9, 2024.[2] He most recently served as the commanding general of the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing from 2022 to 2024. He previously served as the director of the Capabilities Development Directorate in the Office of the Deputy Commandant for Combat Development and Integration.[3][4]
Austin graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1991 with a B.S. degree in aeronautical engineering. He completed flight training in 1994. Austin later graduated from the National War College in 2010 with a master's degree in national security strategy.[4]
In March 2024, Austin was nominated for promotion to lieutenant general and appointment as deputy commandant for combat development and integration.[5][6]
