English: It was not indicated what precisely were the buildings at the edge of the river. Maybe they were the sub-structures of higher buildings, maybe of rather low quays. The area is brightened by some reconstructed ships, some equipment for hauling and such, all made of wood. The former harbour area of Myra (now Demre) have been opened for visitors and provide some interesting insights in ancient harbours, complete with reconstructed ships, utilities, storage, and a number of identified buildings, amongst them churches and a synagogue. Notices and a good city plan show identified buildings, and name them with simple names such as “Church A”. More information, however, is hard to find. There are some reports of excavations, but they’re all over the web and often in Turkish. So most pictures in this series, though they show many of the displays, must do without further information.
