Bonnycastle Park is named for Richard H. G. Bonnycastle, who served as the first Chairman of the Metropolitan Corporation of Greater Winnipeg from 1960-1966. Developed on the former site of the Metro Transit Garage, the Park was officially opened in 1971. Between 1991 and 1992, Bonnycastle Park was extended and redeveloped to compleent the Assiniboine Riverwalk in keeping with the City of Winnipeg's commitment to the enhancement of its rivers.
This plaque was unveiled by Mayor William Norrie Q.C. on October 22, 1992.

Parc Bonnycastle porte le nom de Richard H.G. Bonnycastle, qui a été le premier président de la Metropolitan Corporation of Greater Winnipeg de 1960 à 1966. Développé sur l'ancien emplacement du garage Metro Transit, le parc a été officiellement inauguré en 1971. Entre 1991 et 1992, le parc Bonnycastle a été agrandi et réaménagé pour compléter la promenade de la rivière Assiniboine conformément à l'engagement de la ville de Winnipeg à améliorer ses rivières.
