Description Aerial view of the U.S. Navy Brooklyn Navy Yard, New York, circa 1965. The aircraft carrier in dry dock is USS Intrepid (CVS-11), which underwent a major overhaul from April to September 1965. The shipyard was closed on 23 February 1966. It had been in operation for 165 years with 93 ships being constructed at the yard.
