English: CAMP WAS USED TO INTERN FAMILIES OF JAPANESE, GERMAN, AND ITALIAN ETHNIC ORIGIN. IT OPENED IN DECEMBER OF 1943 AND WAS CLOSED IN FEBRUARY OF 1948. MANY OF THE FAMILIES INTERNED WERE AMERICAN CITIZENS. IT MAXIMUM OCCUPANTY WAS 3374 IN DECEMBER OF 1944. THE MEMORIAL IN THE CENTER STANDS ON THE FOUNDATIONS OF A 2 FAMILY COTTAGE. ALL OF THE BUILDINGS ARE GONE AND THE LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICTS NOW OWNS THE SITE AND USES IT FOR SCHOOLS,, PLAYING FIELDS, AND STADIA.
