DescriptionCon Ed Building Tower from 14th Street.jpg
The tower and part of the main building of the Consolidated Edison Company Building (originally the Consolidated Gas Company Building) at 4 Irving Place at East 14th Street in Manhattan, New York City, as seen from 14th Street between Fourth Avenue and Irving Place, with part of the Zeckendorf Towers in the foreground.
The building was erected in 1915 (architect: Henry J. Hardenbergh) on the site of the Academy of Music, New York's third opera house. (The name then went to a movie house across the street, which later became The Palladium, and then was torn down for a New York University dormitory.) The tower, with its landmark clock, was added in 1926 (architect: Warren & Wetmore). It is topped by the "Tower of Light".
