English: The Chord Diagram shows the largest migration flows between the different areas of the world during 2020. Each flow connects a place of origin and a destination and has a different length, representing the amount of people passing through it. The largest flow is from Central America to Northern America, consisting of 21,742,376 people. The representation is based on official available data from 232 countries, collected by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs. The data source uses a slightly different region subdivision, in the visualization some of them are grouped to avoid an unnecessary level of detail. The diagram, unlike the source, focuses on movements involving over 100,000 people, excluding internal migrations within individual regions.
