DescriptionGrave of Dr Ernest Jones, psychoanalyst - geograph.org.uk - 1312517.jpg
English: Grave of Dr Ernest Jones, psychoanalyst Ernest Jones was born not far away in Gowerton. He received his medical training in Cardiff and London, became a neurologist and then started to get interested in the early psychoanalysts, first Jung and then Freud with whom he became closely associated as a follower, colleague, friend and amanuensis. He was responsible for getting Freud out of Germany before the war and wrote a three-volume biography (some would say hagiography) of the man. Jones loved Gower and his ashes are interred here, where the family spent holidays, along with his daughter Gwenith who died at the age of 8. (Her epitaph in German reads Dem Auge fern, dem Herzen nah means 'Far from the eye, close to the heart.')
