Gunning, New South Wales, Australia Court House built 1879. From: http://www.deh.gov.au/minister/env/2004/mr14apr204.html : "... the Gunning Court House which was built in 1879 and is typical of the design used for New South Wales courthouses during a large part of the 19th century." From: http://www.albyschultz.com.au/news/default.asp?action=article&ID=72 : "Gunning Courthouse was constructed in 1879 to the designs of the Colonial Architect's Office. It was built onto the lock-up keeper's residence, which had been erected seven years earlier. In the late 1970s the courthouse was renovated, with new paint, carpet, etc and the building was reported to be in excellent condition at that time. Gunning Courthouse, entered in the Register of the National Estate and State and local government registers, is an important element in the Gunning townscape. The complex has a long association with policing and administration of justice in the district. The lock-up keeper's residence is among the oldest dwellings in Gunning and the courthouse exemplifies the design of NSW courthouses during a substantial part of the 19th century. A painted brick building, the roof is hipped, clad in corrugated iron and chimneys are topped by chimney pots. The front verandah has plain timber posts and internally the original cedar joinery is intact. The double-height courtroom is flanked on either side by a single storey office wing (police station and office of the clerk of petty sessions)."
