English: The Japan Meteorological Agency’s GMS-5 satellite captured this visible imagery at 23:00 Coordinated Universal Time on July 30, 1996, featuring Typhoon Herb at peak intensity, approaching Taiwan. At the time, Herb had 1-minute sustained winds of 160 mph (260 km/h), and the Japanese Meteorological Agency estimated Herb's minimum central pressure at 925 millibars. Herb was 289 kilometers from land.
