Bustes de maures sur la façade sud de la Porta Nuova

Cette porte, la plus importante de l'ancienne Palerme, a été construite sous Charles Quint. Elle est proche du palais des Normands et s'ouvre sur le Corso Vittorio Emanuele.

La Porte Neuve, a été mise en service en 1583. Elle commémore la victoire de Charles V sur l'armée turque, c'est pourquoi des Maures y sont représentés.
