English: The Lathrop Building at 516 Second Avenue in downtown Fairbanks, Alaska. Constructed in 1936 by Austin Eugene "Cap" Lathrop to house various of his business enterprises, including the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. Owned for many years by Jim Whitaker, the building is currently home to the offices, studios, transmitter and tower of KATN, the ABC affiliate television station in Fairbanks, as well as a variety of smaller businesses. The Spring Hill Suite hotel is seen on the photo's left edge. The abandoned Polaris Building is seen behind.
