English: As of 2024, data from the InSight mission reveals that Mars is divided into three major layers: crust, mantle, and core. The Martian crust appears to be thicker than Earth's. It overlies the mantle, which consists of lithospheric (rigid) mantle, the middle portion of the mantle, the lower mantle, where mineralogical properties are expected to resemble Earth's transition zone (and is labeled as such to avoid confusion), and the basal magma ocean. At the center of the planet is the core, which is likely completely molten.
