Description: "Canoes Trading Around the Steamship Albatross"
Interpretation: A completely different and more realistic description as the canoes depicted are wa without sails, unsuitable for long distance voyaging.

Description: "South Sea cruise [18]99-1900, Caroline Chain, Truk Lagoon, natives and canoe anchorage at Moen Id."
Interpretation: Same location as other versions of the image, but in this copy we have what is presumably from other descriptions the Steamship Albatross visible at right. This is the best resolution image, with the widest field of view (ie. least cropping).
