DescriptionPilgrim Fathers Memorial (closeup) - geograph.org.uk - 77729.jpg
English: Pilgrim Fathers Memorial (closeup) The inscription on the Pilgrim Fathers Memorial says 'Near this place in September 1607 those later known as the Pilgrim Fathers set sail on their first attempt to find religious freedom across the seas'. The Pilgrim Fathers were heading for Holland, but didn't get very far on this first attempt as the captain of the boat they had hired turned them in to the authorities. They ended up in the cells in Boston Guildhall (see TF3243).
