A Ponte da Vila Formosa, situada sobre a ribeira de Seda, é uma das mais importantes pontes romanas do país e certamente uma das que se encontra em melhor estado de conservação. Ainda hoje é utilizada pelo tráfego de veículos ligeiros e pesados. Tem um comprimento de cerca de 100 metros e é composta por seis grandes arcos semicirculares.
Ao contrário de muitas pontes medievais que são erradamente consideradas como romanas, a Ponte da Vila Formosa apresenta todas as características das pontes genuinamente romanas, nomeadamente os silhares almofadados, o tabuleiro plano e o uso de grandes lajes no pavimento. Esta ponte fazia parte da importante rede viária que os romanos criaram na Península Ibérica e integrava-se na via romana que ligava Lisboa a Mérida (capital da Lusitânia) passando por Ponte de Sor e Alter do Chão. <a href="http://rotasdopatrimonio.com/1501vilaformosa.html" rel="nofollow">rotasdopatrimonio.com/1501vilaformosa.html</a>
