The Hamburg America Line passenger ship SS Columbia (in service 1889-1898 and 1899-1904), which also served as the Spanish Navy auxiliary cruiser Rapido during the Spanish-American War in 1898 and as the Imperial Russian Navy auxiliary cruiser Terek during the Russo-Japanese War in 1904-1905. The ship flies the flag of the German Empire on her fantail, indicating the photo was taken during her Hamburg America Line service.
