Description
Français : Kouros de Samos, parfois nommé Kouros d'Ischès, v. 570. Marbre de Samos, H. 4,75 m. MArch Vathy (Samos). Deux kouros colossaux étaient signalés dans le sanctuaire d'Héra. Les découvertes 1980 (le torse) et 1984 (le visage) ont permis de reconstituer partiellement l'un d'eux. Une inscription sue la cuisse gauche indique que c'est une offrande d'Ischès, fils de Rhèsis : un Samien inconnu. Ce type se distingue des kouroi attiques et argiens, en effet « la taille est épaisse et la musculature n'est indiquée ni plastiquement ni graphiquement » (Bernard Holtzmann, La sculpture grecque, 2010, p. 146).
