SlaveChildrenUnknown.jpg (305 × 512 pixels, file size: 58 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Description An undated photograph of children who were likely recently emancipated, found in a North Carolina attic in 2010. See this --> article about the photo. According to news reports in reaction to this story ([1], [2]), the photo is not rare, but is a copy cropped from a stereogram by J. N. Wilson, shot circa 1870.
Date Undated, but believed to be circa 1870. The cropping and compositing with Brady's name is likely newer than the original stereogram.

Author Unknown. Some believe it was created by the photography studio of Mathew Brady, a famous 19th-century photographer, and taken by one of Brady's apprentices - Timothy O'Sullivan. Others say it is by J. N. Wilson, as the stereogram in the New York Public Library is marked.
