Joseph Mallord William Turner - Grand Junction Canal at Southall Mill, Windmill and Lock. about 1810; Oil on canvas. The painting depicts a windmill that once stood in the parish of Norwood (now the suburb of Southall) West London and gave its name to Windmill Lane. Thought to be painted looking at lock 90 and 91 toward the top of the Hanwell Flight. Norwood Lock No 91 is at Latitude: 51N30'11" Longitude: 0W21'36" OS Grid Reference: TQ138795 Very near to the present location of Isambard Kingdom Brunel's engineering marvel the Three Bridges (also called Windmill Bridge).
