Description
English: Main entrance of Teyler's Museum in Haarlem. The museum is housed in the former home of Pieter Teyler, whose estate went towards perpetuating the study of art and science. While living he installed the 'Oval Room' for this purpose. Since then (1778), the museum has been expanded, and this imposing entrance was designed in 1878 to make more of an impression than the old Damstraat entrance, which is still the entrance to his old house. That older entrance is only used today for special tours of the old house.
