Neat wrap-round of wire silver on display at Canadian Museum of Nature, Ottawa, Canada. After some searching, this is a specimen of silver on calcite from Silver Islet Mine, Ontario, Canada.
When a major museum fails to provide provenance for their specimens, then visitors are not able to fully appreciate a world-class collection. I think we all look for and want to compare our country`s or locality`s bounty.
Both the ROM in Toronto and the CMN in Ottawa recently renovated their outstanding mineral galleries with the sponsorship of international mining companies and somehow? lost their labels.
