DescriptionXPT bound for Melbourne at Gunning, New South Wales, 28 March 2009.jpg
English: A New South Wales XPT passenger train bound for Melbourne at Gunning, New South Wales, on 28 March 2009. Two power cars, one at each end, haul six passenger cars on this occasion. XPTs are a modified version of the British InterCity 125, the main differences being a taller, wider body and a bogie design more suited to rougher track seen in New South Wales. The photo was taken a few days before the upper-quadrant semaphore signal — the last on the Sydney–Melbourne line — was decommissioned, replaced by a colour-light signal.
