Gervarrius Owens (born October 14, 1999) is an American professional football safety for the Tennessee Titans of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M before transferring to Houston.

Early life

Owens was born and initially grew up in Greenville, Mississippi before his family moved to Atlanta, Georgia and then to Moore, Oklahoma. He attended Southmoore High School.[1] Owens was rated a three-star recruit and committed to play college football at Kansas State.[2]

College career

Owens enrolled at Kansas State during the summer of 2017, but did not report to the team. He transferred to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College before the start of the season.[3] Owens made 51 tackles with three interceptions as a freshman.[4] After the season, he committed and later signed to transfer to Minnesota.[5] Owens was later released from his National Letter of Intent in order to transfer to Houston.[6]

Owens became a starter during his first season with the Houston Cougars.[7] He was named first team All-American Athletic Conference (AAC) as a junior after making 52 tackles with two interceptions.[8][9] Owens was named second team All-AAC as a senior.[10]

New York Giants

Owens was selected in the seventh round, 254th overall, of the 2023 NFL draft by the New York Giants.[13]

Owens was waived on August 28, 2024, and re-signed to the practice squad.[14] He was released on October 29.[15]

Tennessee Titans

On November 5, 2024, Owens was signed to the Tennessee Titans practice squad.[16]
