Green Power is a non-governmental environmental organization based in Hong Kong, established in 1988. The organization focuses on promoting environmental education and community engagement, aiming to raise public awareness about environmental issues and encourage sustainable practices.

Green Power's primary mission is to foster environmental consciousness through education. The organization emphasizes the role of education in driving long-term behavioral changes and environmental conservation. It also advocates for community participation in tackling environmental challenges.^[1]

Green Power established the first Green Schools Network in Hong Kong to support environmental education in collaboration with schools. The organization works closely with teachers to promote environmental awareness among young students. Additionally, three Environmental Resource Centres have been set up in secondary and primary schools to further these efforts.

The Tsuen Wan Environmental Resources Centre and Wan Chai Environmental Resources Centre were established by the Environmental Protection Department and have been managed by Green Power since 2000 and 2006, respectively. These centers offer the public access to environmental information and reading materials, as well as guided visit services. They serve as hubs for promoting environmental protection within the community.

The Green Power Hike is an annual charitable walkathon organized by Green Power and is the largest event held on the 50-km Hong Kong Trail. First launched in 1994 with around 100 participants, the hike has since attracted over 28,000 participants and raised more than HK$26 million. In 2008, the event drew approximately 3,000 participants and raised over HK$4 million. All funds raised are directed towards supporting local environmental education programs in kindergartens, primary, and secondary schools.^[2]

Hong Kong is home to over 260 species of butterflies, and Green Power actively promotes their conservation. Efforts include educational programs and initiatives to protect butterfly habitats.^[3]
