Hezbollah Headquarters

Hezbollah's Central Headquarters (also known as Security Zone or Security Square, sometimes Hezbollah's Stronghold, Arabic: المربع الامني) was located in the Southern Suburbs of Beirut (Dahieh),^[1][2] specifically in the Haret Hreik area, which is a heavily fortified zone,^[3] and was Hezbollah's central base of command and leadership, and included various administrative, military, and logistical facilities.^[1] This area includes neighborhoods like Haret Hreik, Bir al-Abd, and al-Ruweis.

On 27 September 2024, Israeli forces launched airstrikes at the headquarters targeting Hezbollah's secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah, dropping over 80 bombs on the compound,^[4] which destroyed the headquarters. Both the IDF and Hezbollah confirmed Nasrallah's death the next day. Ali Karaki, the commander of Hezbollah's Southern Front, and Iranian brigadier general Abbas Nilforoushan were also killed in the attack, along with several other senior Hezbollah commanders.^[5][6][7]

While the headquarters, which is in Dahieh, refer to the central command and administrative offices, Hezbollah's strongholds, which extend to other parts of Lebanon, particularly in the southern regions and the Bekaa Valley, is a broader terms that refer to the areas where they have strong presence and community support.
