Hwang Jae-won (Korean: 황재원; born 16 August 2002) is a South Korean footballer who plays as a right back for K League 1 club Daegu FC and the South Korea national team.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]
Club career
[edit]Early life
[edit]Hwang started his career at Suwon FC youth academy before moving to play for Gwacheon High School in 2019 and then to Hongik University in Seoul.
Daegu FC
[edit]On 5 January 2022, Hwang moved to K League 1 side Daegu FC. He make his professional career debut on 19 February in a league match against FC Seoul. On 5 May, he scored his first career goal in a 1–1 away draw against Pohang Steelers. On 29 May, playing against the same opponent playing at home this time round, Hwang recorded two assists to help his team settled for a 2–2 draw.
On 10 June 2023, Hwang assisted and scored 1 goal to help his team to a 3–1 home win against Suwon FC.
International career
[edit]In June 2024, Hwang was called up by South Korea national team caretaker Kim Do-hoon for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification match. On 6 June 2024, he make his debut for the national team being named on the starting line-up against Singapore in a 7–0 win at the Singapore National Stadium.
