In May 2002, Rossa released a single entitled "Kini". This single is part of Rossa's new album entitled KINI, created by 9 great Indonesian musicians such as Yovie Widyanto, Iszur Muchtar, Melly Goeslaw and others which was released on 30 April 2002.[1]

On this album, Rossa remake Fariz RM's hit song entitled "Sakura" in a fresher and more modern version. In this album era, Rossa also starred in the latest soap opera entitled "Perisai Kasih" with the song "Kepastian" from Rossa as the main theme song.[2]

The main single on this album is Kini by Yovie Widyanto, followed by Perawan Cinta by Melly Goeslaw, Bila Salah by Ricky Five Minutes, Sakura by Fariz RM and Kepastian by Glenn Fredly. This album sold more than 600,000 copies and was awarded the 2003 AMI Awards for Best Pop Female Singer. [3]

Reissue

On May 19 2003, Rossa re-released the album Kini by adding a new song entitled "Malam Pertama" created by Melly Goeslaw which was written specifically for a soap opera entitled "Malam Pertama" on SCTV. This album then received Double Platinum in early 2004 and received a nomination for the 2004 AMI Awards for Best Female Pop Singer.[4][5]
