LaNorris Sellers (born June 23, 2005) is an American college football quarterback for the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Early life
[edit]Sellers attended South Florence High School in Florence, South Carolina for all four years of his high school career. As a senior he took the Bruins to the SCHSL 4A State Championship where they beat the Northwestern Trojans 57-30.[1]
Sellers was named the Florence Morning News Prep Football Player of the Year after he passed for 2,948 yards with 45 touchdowns and rushed for 1,338 yards and 17 touchdowns.[2] Sellers was named the offensive MVP of the 2022 Shrine Bowl after throwing for 121 yards and a touchdown.[3]
At the conclusion of his high school career he was ranked "No. 4 prospect in the state, the 16th-best quarterback in the country and No. 246 overall in the 247Sports Composite".[4] He originally committed to play college football at the University of Virginia and then Syracuse University before finally committing to and signing with the University of South Carolina.[5][6]
College career
[edit]Sellers entered his first year at South Carolina in 2023 as a redshirt freshman backup to Spencer Rattler.[7] He made his debut against Furman, completing four of four passes for 86 yards and two touchdowns.[8][9][10] Ahead of the 2024 season, Sellers was named the starting quarterback for the Gamecocks. On November 30, 2024, Sellers led the Gamecocks to a 17-14 win over the Clemson Tigers, securing the Palmetto Cup and leading the team to a 9-3 season.
