Murree, (Urdu: ضِلع مری) is a district of the Rawalpindi Division in the northernmost part of the Pakistani province of Punjab. It was created out of Rawalpindi District in 2022 and consists of two tehsils, Kotli Sattian and Murree.[1]

At the time of the 2017 census, what is today Murree District had 64,319 households and a population of 352,329. Murree had a sex ratio of 959 females per 1000 males and a literacy rate of 86.31% - 93.11% for males and 79.24% for females. 179,444 (50.93%) lived in urban areas. 80,259 (22.78%) were under 10 years of age. 548 (0.16%) were from religious minorities.[4]

At the time of the 2023 census, 44% of the population spoke Punjabi, while 26% identified their mother-tongue as Hindko, 5.7% as Urdu and 2.1% as Pashto. 20.3% of the population spoke a language classified as 'Others'.[5][a]
