History

A post office called Oral has been in operation since 1894.[7] Some say Oral is the middle name of the first postmaster's son,[8] (John Oral Goodman, later of Riverton, WY) while others believe the community was so named with the expectation the place would become something people would be talking about.[9]

Climate

According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Oral has a cold semi-arid climate, abbreviated "BSk" on climate maps. The hottest temperature recorded in Oral was 112 °F (44.4 °C) on July 7, 1973, while the coldest temperature recorded was −43 °F (−41.7 °C) on December 21, 1983 and December 24, 1983.[10]
