Orienbank is one of the oldest banks in Tajikistan, and one of its largest financial institutions.

In 2008, the bank's chairman, Hasan Asadullozoda, was reportedly shot and killed by Rustam Emomali, the son of President Emomali Rahmon. Asadullozoda was Rahmon's brother-in-law and Emomali's uncle. [1] However, Asadullozoda was still alive as of 2017, when President Rahmon's daughter, Zarina Rahmon, was appointed Deputy Head of Orienbank, under Asadullozoda's leadership.[2]

In early 2024, the then-current deputy chairman of Orienbank, Shohrat Ismattuloev, was kidnapped and killed.[3]
