Prabir Mitra (born 18 August 1941)[1] is a Bangladeshi film actor.[2] He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the film Boro Bhalo Lok Chhilo in 1982.[1] He also won the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award.[3] As of 2019, he has worked in over 400 films.[4]

Early life and career

Mitra grew up in Dhaka.[1] He studied in Pogose School along with ATM Shamsuzzaman.[4]

Mitra started his acting career with the theatre group Lalkuthi.[2] He debuted in film acting through the film Jolchobi (1973).[4]

Personal life

Mitra was married to Selina Hossain (d. 2000), who changed her name to Ajanta Mitra post marriage.[1] They have four children together; a daughter, Ripa Mitra, and three sons: Mithun Mitra, Nipun Mitra and Akash Mitra.[5][6]
