Reflection in a Dead Diamond (French: Reflet dans un diamant mort) is a 2025 action thriller mystery film directed by Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani. The film centres on a septuagenarian retired spy living in Côte d’Azur, who fears his former enemies are back for a final fight when his intriguing next-door neighbour mysteriously disappears.[1][2]
The film an homage to the 1960s Eurospy films,[3] is produced by Pierre Foulon. An international co-production between Belgium, France, Italy and Luxembourg, it premiered on 16 February 2025 at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, where it competed for the Golden Bear.[4]
Synopsis
[edit]John D, a retired spy in his 70s residing in a luxurious hotel on the French Riviera, is fascinated by his new neighbor, who kindles his memories of the Riviera's vibrant days in the 1960s. When his neighbor vanishes without a trace, John is forced to confront his past demons.

Production
[edit]In January 2023, screen.brussels invested €150,000 in the film. Five days of the filming was done in Brussels out of a total of forty days.[5]
The film produced by Kozak Films, Les Films Fauves, Dandy Projects, Tobina Film with the backing of screen.brussels is distributed by UFO Distribution.[6]
Filming was wrapped up in December 2023.[1]
Release
[edit]Reflection in a Dead Diamond had its world premiere on 16 February 2025, as part of the 75th Berlin International Film Festival, in Competition.[7][8][9]
In May 2024, the Italian sales company True Colours acquired worldwide rights to the film.[1] Shudder acquired distribution rights to North America, the United Kingdom and Ireland, and Australia and New Zealand ahead of the film's world premiere.[10]
It will compete in the official competition Grand Prix competition at the Luxembourg City Film Festival on 7 March, 2025.[11]
It will be released in the French theaters on 2 July 2025,[12] and expected to be released in September 2025 in Belgium.[5]
