Sigli

Sigli city

Sigli is a town in Aceh province of Indonesia and it is the seat (capital) of Pidie Regency. Sigli is located 112 kilometers to the south of the capital of Aceh province, Banda Aceh.


History

In the 15th century, Sigli was a place to connect economical routes to the Bugis, and ancient times of sailing and trading, China or Ming Dynasty in that time, needed a stopover for its goods and supplies and Sigli was one of the place for it, and the most famous port there is the Kuala Pidie Port.

Persatuan Sepakbola Aceh Pidie is the football club from Sigli.

Climate

Sigli has a tropical monsoon climate (Am) with moderate rainfall from February to September and heavy rainfall from October to January.
