Template talk:Cultural areas of Indigenous North Americans

Indigenous peoples of Mexico

[edit]

None of these cultural areas are set in stone and different people divide the regions differently. For instance, Great Lakes tribes are often separated from the Northeastern Woodlands and sometimes the Plateau and Great Basin are combined as the "Intermontane region." The fact that the Mexican article seemingly corresponds to a contemporary nation-state is immaterial; California is a modern state but still used to loosely define very diverse groups of tribes. The goal is to be as comprehensive as possible, as the term "Mesoamerica" does not include all of Mexico. The Mesoamerica article focuses on precolumbian peoples as opposed to living peoples, so I included links to both Mesoamerica and Indigenous peoples of Mexico to make the template most useful to readers. -Uyvsdi (talk) 18:52, 23 December 2010 (UTC)Uyvsdi[reply]
