Template talk:Indian elections

why are you removing presidential elections?

[edit]

They are a part of indian elections template. 122.161.225.48 (talk) 09:43, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Because they are covered on {{Elections in India}}. There is a long-standing agreement that indirect elections (i.e. ones with no public vote) are not included on these types of template (for instance, we have separate templates like {{Pakistani presidential elections}} and {{Israeli presidential elections}} because they are also indirect). The avg person would then only think that there are 2 types of elections. The fact is that prez elections are a part of elections in india. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.161.70.170 (talk) 08:47, 4 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I assume there are also local elections in India, but no-one has ever created any articles on these. The fact is that the presidential elections are not public elections, and as stated above, there are separate election templates for these for other countries where the president is not publicly elected (see also {{Turkish presidential elections}}, {{Moldovan presidential elections}}, {{German presidential elections}},{{Italian presidential elections}}) - why should India be a different case? Please read WP:BRD, stop reverting, and keep discussing. Number 57 12:25, 4 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
There is NO longstanding agreement. Please show whaere that exists? Only ONE user inssits on unilaterally having his way. "GROW I["!(Lihaas (talk) 00:35, 16 October 2013 (UTC)).[reply]

Rajya Sabha and Vice Presidential elections

[edit]

Wikipedia:WikiProject Elections and Referendums says Indian elections are complete. But Rajya Sabha and Vice Presidential elections are not covered. Karan Kamath (talk · contribs)

That's because they're not public elections. These templates only cover elections where the general public voted. Number 57 17:40, 30 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
