"Other topics" section

[edit]

I've reverted the removal of the "Other topics" section as it includes but seperates other important topics from the list of subgenre articles, plus the reason given was "cleaned up", but I don't think there was anything messy about it. Other topic sections in genre footer templates are fairly common (see here). --MilkMiruku 21:10, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see any reason for the separate "other topics" section. Please explain. --Spylab 22:07, April 26 2006
The reason for having a "other topics" section is because it makes links to relevant articles easily available to readers, and the reason for having it seperate is because lumping the two sections together would confuse as to what is a genre or not. It's also a practice that is mirrored on many other music genre footer templates (see the link above). --MilkMiruku 22:12, 26 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Genres

[edit]

How many of these are legitimate genres, and how many are just colloquial terms for certain sounds? From the looks of it, a number of these pages could stand to be merged, redirected, or deleted. WesleyDodds 00:32, 8 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My suggestion would be to take your concerns to the talk pages of the specific articles you think should be merged, redirected, or deleted. We could then fix the template once the issues are resolved in the articles themselves. Ecto 17:37, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Why is Crunkcore listed as a Punk Rock sub-genre? That music is more hip hop samples with Screamo voices, It cant be cosidered Rock anyway. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.191.3.211 (talk) 20:53, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I restored a few punk-related links that were deleted without a detailed explanation. There is no separate template for hardcore punk, so hardcore-related topics (such as Emo, Taqwacore and Straight edge) do belong the punk template. They were deleted by an editor who is on a mission to rewrite history and pretend that punk and hardcore punk have alwasys been two totally separate genres with no overlap. I also restored the link to punk pathetique because it is a legitimate article with references. Spylab 13:38, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

While I agree with you, I must point out there is indeed a more specific template for hardcore. Just scroll down to the bottom of that article. WesleyDodds 09:34, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yes, some time after I wrote that post above, I found that there is a hardcore template. However, for some strange reason, the hardcore template was not at the bottom of the hardcore article at that time, so I added it. Spylab 10:12, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speaking of which

[edit]
How about alternative rock? According to the alt-rock infobox, it's a derivative of 4 punk rock genres in one, so it should go somewhere in the template. Dude00007, Ph. D., Sc. D. (talk) 19:08, 24 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
