Hi @Rugbyfan22: I notice you made this revert without leaving an edit summary. See WP:COMMONNAME, which states "Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's "official" name [...] it generally prefers the name that is most commonly used". Sponsorship names come and go, and are not particularly recognisable, especially over time. Greenman (talk) 20:17, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure there was ever a discussion, more of an acceptance by editors at the time that stadiums were known as their sponsored names in SANZAAR media, and in the majority of other publications. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 18:37, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Rugbyfan22:, I notice you reverted this. Since there has consensus, we use WP:COMMONAME. In addition, those stadiums are no longer in use for Super Rugby, many no longer go by those names, and did not for the entirety of Super Rugby, so it makes no sense to cherry-pick a sponsor's name used for a short time. There has been a bit more discussion here, although not 100% on the topic there doesn't seem to be an objection to using the sponsored names. Given these stadia are no longer used and did have other names, I'll concede that these should be changed to common names here. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 12:13, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
