Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Australia national association football team you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Luke Adams (footballer), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Sir Sputnik (talk) 16:20, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article Hamish Watson has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article about a footballer who fails WP:GNG and who has not played in a fully pro league.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Orphaned non-free image File:The Hobbit 2 SE CD Cover.jpeg[edit]

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:The Hobbit 2 SE CD Cover.jpeg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. De728631 (talk) 13:55, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:The Hobbit 2 SE CD Cover.jpeg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:The Hobbit 2 SE CD Cover.jpeg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. De728631 (talk) 14:00, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sources?[edit]

Hi. I notice you made this reversion. The implication is therefor that the team represents both genders. This contravenes both the AOC and the FFA. Can you cite sources that suggest the national team referenced on the page is inclusive to both genders? Please do not remove the tag[edit]

Please do not remove the neutrality tag. The neutrality of the article is in dispute. The scope of the article based on the title is the national team, of which Australia has two. By insisting the article about the national team and by hatting the women's team, you are WP:POV pushing and ghettoizing women. Please discuss this on the talk page to resolve the WP:NPOV issue before removing it. --LauraHale (talk) 14:28, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Australia national under-14 association football team is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/South Korea national under-14 football team until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. C679 09:15, 5 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hilo Edit Warring at Wanderers FC[edit]

Can you take a look at [Sydney Wanderers FC Talk page.] The AFL project is once again making an attack on the word "Football", this time on an article that has nothing to do with AFL or sport across the country. Macktheknifeau (talk) 11:12, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That was a very odd thing to say, when the team's match that had just finished when you wrote that had been in Melbourne, where the game is almost universally called soccer. HiLo48 (talk) 23:38, 28 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I know you're busy but...[edit]

... can you please work on fixing the NPOV issues in the Australia national association football team and Soccer in Australia articles. Having these POV issues is an embarrassment to the game in Australia, and fixing them is a more important content step than the name thing. (and remember, just sticking in men or hatting the national team article doesn't solve the problem). People going to Wikipedia are more likely going to think those articles are crap because of the NPOV tags than they are because they use soccer. --LauraHale (talk) 18:26, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

2001 national team results[edit]

I added the 2001 results because the 2001 section was blank. Hack (talk) 09:46, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hack, why add the 2001 results if the info is on 2001 Australia national football team season?--2nyte (talk) 09:49, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Australia national football team results is supposed to be a list of results, not a series of links to other articles. Hack (talk) 09:57, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hack, what about the single season articles? Do you intend to redirect them?--2nyte (talk) 09:59, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No, those articles contains information, such as goalscorers and records, that can't be added to the overall results page. Hack (talk) 10:03, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hack, ok, but the article is already quite lengthy, I don't think we should be adding more content. Maybe we should think of splitting the article. Or we could keep the results up to the year 1999 and from the year 2000 we can just keep the single season articles.--2nyte (talk) 10:09, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The equivalent England article splits matches into decades. There is scope for the single season articles to exist in addition to the results page but they need to be expanded. Hack (talk) 10:14, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hack, I would rather keep the results from 1922 to 1999 on Australia national football team results and get that page 100% complete and then at the bottom of the page have a note saying For all match results from 2000–present, see single-season articles. And then we can expand the single-season articles and get them 100% complete. I would like the information centralised but there's also no point on duplicating the recent results.--2nyte (talk) 10:23, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree. The list of results should be be just that, results of the full international team. The season articles, if extended back to 1922, have the potential track other relevant information, such as personnel changes, records, records etc. Hack (talk) 00:43, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hack, I think page length is an issue, Australia national football team results is already too long. Also I don't think season articles are very necessary, especially for the pre-2000 years.--2nyte (talk) 00:53, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

neutrality tag : please do not remove[edit]

Hi. I put the neutrality tag back on. There as no consensus on the talk page that the neutrality issue was resolved. The solutions you offered were rejected. If you really believe the answer is to rename and disambiguate, then please propose that. Until then, please work towards consensus to resolve the problem by making the text of the article neutral in regards to gender. And then, after you feel you have neutralized the text, please ask those who support the neutrality tag being there, if they feel you have addressed their concerns. --LauraHale (talk) 18:24, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure you've been in contact with HiLo48 and tried to discuss with him his editing behaviour. -[edit]

The process for requesting comments about user conduct is incredibly complicated, see this page on User conduct and look at the template for setting up an RFC about HiLo48's behaviour. Unfortunately, I don't really believe HiLo48 has engaged in any activity that really meets anything that fits a reason to go up on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents recently and Wikipedia:Meat puppetry is incredibly hard to prove. You might try contacting an uninvolved administrator to get their comments on his behaviour. There has been a consensus on Soccer in Australia, and so holding the position that HiLo48 does is not a matter of filibustering --Orestes1984 (talk) 16:38, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Ed Sheeran - I See Fire.png[edit]

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Ed Sheeran - I See Fire.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Naming conventions[edit]

Hi, I noticed this edit, and while I am sure this could be a valid endpoint in our discussion, I would hold off editing a convention which has been largely inactive and then referring to it. I'd rather solve the problem first and then agree the naming convention wording. Make sense? --John (talk) 14:29, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

John, I understand, I wouldn't want to create more problems. But would I be able to copy that content onto another article if I were to revert the edit you brought up? That edit sums up what I would hope the final outcome would be, so I would like to keep it/refer to it in some way.--2nyte (talk) 00:00, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, it's OK to userfy it and we could even maybe use it as a discussion point when we get to discuss properly. I am really pleased at the progress so far, and I am sorry if I came across as snippy in my first comment. Newcastle's real name?[edit]

I'm genuinely confused about what this club is really called. I completely agree with you that the "Pty Ltd" bit doesn't belong in the Infobox, but...

The Infobox is headed "Newcastle Jets". The logo below that says "Newcastle United Jets". The Full Name entry below that now says "Newcastle United". And the article is titled "Newcastle Jets FC".

So, four different names, all visible on the one screen. This is a bit untidy. Can we sort this out? HiLo48 (talk) 00:27, 4 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Darthfyer, as I mentioned in the edit summary, I previously moved that content to List of Central Coast Mariners FC seasons as I have done with each respective A-League club, this is typical for football articles on wiki.--2nyte (talk) 08:37, 21 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

copyright violation image deleted[edit]

Hi there. The image you uploaded File:Dwight Yorke Sydney FC 2010.jpg was cropped from a professionally taken Getty images photo (see here). Please do not take other's images and upload them here with a claim you made them yourself. Copyright is taken very seriously and this type of action is not acceptable on Wikipedia - Peripitus (Talk) 23:32, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File:Adelaide Oval.jpg listed for deletion[edit]

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Adelaide Oval.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why it has been listed (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry). Feel free to add your opinion on the matter below the nomination. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 23:34, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

And so went the other images you have claimed as self-made. One was a crop of a news photo, one was a professional render of a trophy. The image of Somo in concert in tennessee I can't find the original source but I doubt this is self-made and have deleted as well. There is no camera exif information and I have little doubt the image was taken by someone else other than you - Peripitus (Talk) 23:40, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2014–15 Perth Glory FC season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ryan Edwards (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

A tag has been placed on File:South Springvale SC.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

Soccer = football again[edit]

I have begun a thread at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (Football in Australia)#Full names of soccer clubs to discuss how we should use the "fullname" parameter in the Infobox template. Unfortunately it seems to be being used by some to continue to now sneakily press the claim that their game is called football. Please join the fray. HiLo48 (talk) 08:43, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Phil Moss photo[edit]

Hi mate, thanks for adding the Phil Moss photo. Was looking at the source and it seems to be CC-BY-SA-NC, which means we can't use it? (NC, ie. non-commerical, being the issue.) Thoughts? I've got a photo of Phil myself which I can just crop myself out of if needed. Not as good as the one you found though :( Daniel (talk) 11:12, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article Jefferson Chang has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No analysis of the subject in secondary sources

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hey 2nyte. I might be missing something inre: the rationale for the G6 CSD for Australia Cup, but I wanted to ask you if had considered that this might be a decent disambiguation page for FFA Cup, Australian Cup (soccer), and Australian Cup? I, JethroBT drop me a line 04:17, 18 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

User:I JethroBT, the FFA Cup is not refered to as the 'Australia Cup', nor has it ever been. I don't really think a disambig page is necessary, I'll just put a 'Not to be confused with' tag at the top of the Australia Cup and Australian Cup articles.--2nyte (talk) 04:29, 18 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. I just figured that since "Australia" was part of the FFA, it might be reasonable for it to be searched that way. But if you don't think it's necessary, I'll delete the page to make way for the page move. As for the tags, if you don't think folks would be confused, it's probably fine either way (this is definitely not a topic I'm familiar with at all.)
