Distance Education
[edit]Thank you 4twenty42o for giving to me an opportunity to share my view point. The article talks about growth in distance education. Somehow it missed references to the Indian scenario, where it has made tremendous growth and contributions over the last 50 years.... As a distance educator with over three decades of experience, without hiding my true identity, I am trying link a compilation first of its kind in the Indian context for `further readings'. I hope you will find it worthwhile and reconsider your decision. .. Thank you Ravi K Mahajan (talk) 12:49, 19 March 2013 (UTC)
Thank you 4twenty42o for making so many things clear to me.. I understand that my enthusiasm to share, of my own , the `chronology of growth of distance education in India' (where it has just completed 50 yr) with larger group has been seen as a self-advertising activity. ..Well so far I have been an active user of wiki.. and now I want to contribute... You have given me some valuable links.. BUT in this case I feel I shall be cool .. and may be in future you will find my compilation effort (the link) worth sharing with larger community. .. regards......Ravi K Mahajan (talk)(22:43, 19 March 2013 (UTC)) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.50.38.49 (talk)

[edit]Odd characters? What the hell are you talking about?? I don't see any odd character, please be more specific! [1] Besides, if you see anything wrong, you should fix it, NOT REMOVING IT!!! Anyway, I was trying to contribute in Wikipedia, but thanks to the likes of you, I have decided to stop. Good job — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.26.4.117 (talk) 07:49, 20 March 2013 (UTC)
- Just because you copied something from the internet does not mean it is correct. Since you are trying to contribute why don't you first talk like an adult (presumably you are one), try not to let something as simple as a warning get you bent out of shape, and discuss with me the mistake i made versus getting childishly worked up and cursing the way you have. i am not one to shy from the words fuck or hell but i do not use those words when conversing with my fellow editors. regards 4twenty42o (talk) 07:56, 20 March 2013 (UTC)

[edit]I intervened. Just so you know, people are allowed to use their real names as usernames (I should certainly be a case in point) and cannot be blocked for that even if they edit the articles about themselves in a COI fashion. Daniel Case (talk) 15:48, 20 March 2013 (UTC)

Western North Carolina
[edit]Sorry for not explaining why I removed that information from the Western North Carolina page. I did so because, as someone with a fair amount on knowledge on east coast/Appalachian geography, I knew that it was factually incorrect. No part of the Tennessee Valley (which is itself a part of the Great Appalachian Valley) lies within the bounds of NC. It is entirely in Tennessee. The Tennessee Valley Authority does cover a small amount of Western NC and the "Tennessee Valley" moniker in general is used to an extent in those far western counties, but only due to sheer proximity and regionalism. Just a quick look at Google Maps satellite imagery makes it clear that the valley is completely geographically west of North Carolina. Those extreme western extents are part of the Great Smoky Mountains (which are a subset of the Blue Ridge Mountains). While this information was incorrect, what remained in the geography section (which is still severely lacking) seemed sound to me. If you have any questions, please ask away. Sorry for any confusion. Next time I'll explain my edits. 98.239.148.245 (talk) 05:35, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
Hi there,
I'm amending my father in law's date of birth on the
Jimmy Jackson (footballer born 1932)
page. It tells me that you have amended it back, although I am new to Wikipedia so not sure if I'm looking at the right revision. Can you let me know if this is right and if so are we talking about the same Jimmy (Notts County player, died 2 March this year) because this one was definitely born on 26 March 1931. I made a cake for his 80th!
Kind regards,

Michael Cheng (entrepreneur) article notability
[edit]Noticed you chimed in on this article :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Cheng_(entrepreneur) I noticed it a while ago, and it seems like the guy himself might be tooting his own horn. The majority of the edits are from an IP address close to where it says he's from, and there's an oddly high amount of detail on awards the person has won without any actual content.
Also the history shows that article was rejected several times. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Vancitystars
Until it was finally approved for some reason.
I'm not such a big editor, but this strikes me as an article that might be a candidate for deletion. Not exactly sure how it works. CrocodilesAreForWimps (talk) 07:35, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
Mussolini picture removal
[edit]I removed the offensive picture because in the Wikipedia guidelines it states that:
"Offensive material should be used only if its omission would cause the article to be less informative, relevant, or accurate, and no equally suitable alternative is available."
There is already a picture of him being publicly hanged. Do we need ANOTHER image of his dead body beside his wife with his face all caved in like that? I felt like that picture added nothing to the article, especially since there is already a picture of his dead body on the same page. Delphi00 (talk) 19:47, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Page Moseley, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page BFA (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve.
