Hello!

[edit]

Just another warm welcome from someone maybe a little closer to your age :). Having interacted with some other younger Wikipedians, I would recommend that you remove the userbox, or at least make it less obvious (I have mine on a specific userbox page and not on my main userpage). Of course you are free to show your age and I have no problem with that, but it may cause others to question your judgement, either directly or indirectly. Anyway, happy editing and if you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page! Regards, Giraffer (munch) 12:27, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not really a good idea either way, Giraffer, and I've removed your comment here and on Abraham's user page. We have a policy of protecting editors' safety by hiding such information if they share it. I'm really sorry about having to suppress your edits, and I know it's annoying, but it's for the best. Please don't re-add the information. For some useful information on privacy and safety, you can take a look at Wikipedia:Guidance for younger editors and Wikipedia:On privacy, confidentiality and discretion. Thank you, and sorry for messing about with your edits! Primefac (talk) 12:42, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
okay :)
Primefac, no problem. Wasn't aware that disclosure of age (in the case of a minor) was something worthy of OS but will remember that for the future. Read the pages you said. Regards, Giraffer (munch) 21:54, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Edit: Strike-throughed (?) one of my sentances. Giraffer (munch)

does this page need to be archived?

[edit]

Hi! Does this page need to be archived? Thanks :) (according to this page you need community consensus to begin archiving...)~Abraham236 (talk) 03:00, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You don't need consensus for archiving your own talk page (i.e., this page), but I wouldn't worry about it unless/until it becomes unreasonably large (e.g., tens of posts). Setting up and maintaining archiving can be challenging for a newbie. Personally, I just archive my talk page manually every couple of years because I get very little traffic.
Also note that I just happened to see your question here as I was following up on another issue. If you have a question, it's best to ask at the WP:Teahouse or WP:Help desk where people will see it. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 08:55, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, thanks for the help :) ~Abraham236 (talk) 14:03, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Obviously not your first rodeo

[edit]

Greetings, Abraham236. I always assume good faith, up to the point where I can no longer do so, and that point has been passed.

You appear to me to be here to consume your own ample free time in wasting the time of others on Wikipedia, like your cohort, User:Asaju shalom great. At some point in the past, you may have edited Wikipedia with good intent, and learned what annoys editors. For whatever reason, you are serially impersonating a novice editor and employing those annoying behaviors ad nauseum until you get blocked. The assumption of good faith on the part of others is your license to exploit that assumption and thus gain undeserved attention (guess I answered my own question there). Kindly find another hobby.--Quisqualis (talk) 21:51, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ok, wikipedia is kinda boring tho :( ~Abraham236 (talk) 14:17, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Abraham236! The thread you created at the Wikipedia:Teahouse, Hello! Do you have to be 13 to use Wikipedia?, has been archived because there was no discussion for a few days (usually at least two days, and sometimes four or more). You can still find the archived discussion here. If you have any additional questions that weren't answered then, please feel free to create a new thread.

Your draft article, Draft:Hofstadter-Moebius loop

[edit]

Hello, Abraham236. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Hofstadter-Moebius loop".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! Extraordinary Writ (talk) 16:50, 8 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Technical news

  • When blocking an IPv6 address with Twinkle, there is now a checkbox with the option to just block the /64 range. When doing so, you can still leave a block template on the initial, single IP address' talkpage.
  • When protecting a page with Twinkle, you can now add a note if doing so was in response to a request at WP:RfPP, and even link to the specific revision.
  • There have been a number of reported issues with Pending Changes. Most problems setting protection appear to have been resolved (phab:T273317) but other issues with autoaccepting edits persist (phab:T275322).

Guideline and policy news

  • Following a request for comment, F7 (invalid fair-use claim) subcriterion a has been deprecated; it covered immediate deletion of non-free media with invalid fair-use tags.
  • Following a request for comment, page movers were granted the delete-redirect userright, which allows moving a page over a single-revision redirect, regardless of that redirect's target.

Technical news

  • When you move a page that many editors have on their watchlist the history can be split and it might also not be possible to move it again for a while. This is because of a job queue problem. (T278350)
  • Code to support some very old web browsers is being removed. This could cause issues in those browsers. (T277803)

Technical news

  • Wikimedia previously used the IRC network Freenode. However, due to changes over who controlled the network with reports of a forceful takeover by several ex-staff members, the Wikimedia IRC Group Contacts decided to move to the new Libera Chat network. It has been reported that Wikimedia related channels on Freenode have been forcibly taken over if they pointed members to Libera. There is a migration guide and Wikimedia discussions about this.
