Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Adam Levine, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ashtanga Yoga (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

If all goes according to plan, we should be launching Echo on en-wiki either tomorrow, or next Tuesday - I'll drop a followup tomorrow when we know what's happening. Article Feedback Tool update

[edit]

Hey Ansumang. I'm contacting you because you're involved in the Article Feedback Tool in some way, either as a previous newsletter recipient or as an active user of the system. As you might have heard, a user recently anonymously disabled the feedback tool on 2,000 pages. We were unable to track or prevent this due to the lack of logging feature in AFT5. We're deeply sorry for this, as we know that quite a few users found the software very useful, and were using it on their articles.

We've now re-released the software, with the addition of a logging feature and restrictions on the ability to disable. Obviously, we're not going to automatically re-enable it on each article—we don't want to create a situation where it was enabled by users who have now moved on, and feedback would sit there unattended—but if you're interested in enabling it for your articles, it's pretty simple to do. Just go to the article you want to enable it on, click the "request feedback" link in the toolbox in the sidebar, and AFT5 will be enabled for that article.

Again, we're very sorry about this issue; hopefully it'll be smooth sailing after this :). If you have any questions, just drop them at the talkpage. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) 21:43, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 01:44, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

ABOUT PAGE:Durgapur, Angul

Ansuman Sir,

GOOD EVENING. Sir, today I have added four new jpg images to th page "Durgapur, Angul". But the last image " MOBILE TOWERS" for village Durgapur is invisible in the page to watch; and requires "upload" again after its successful upload also. As I am uploading the images for the first time in a "WIKIPEDIA PAGE"; I am unable to know the fault. Also there is a problem in viewing the first image(APARAJITA-MAA-DURGA) in larger view. Also I want to copy the images for its regional page(ଦୁର୍ଗାପୁର, ଅନୁଗୋଳ) in "ODIA". So please help me in this regard as I had got previously. Thanking you. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Dear Ansuman,

Glad to meet a wiki admin from Odisha, i need your help to protect a wiki profile. Some users keep trying to defame Sujit Meher article which is about a renowned fashion designer. Infect I have seen this article contains so many useful media sources also. And he has been placed in top 10 famous alumni top fashion institute of India as he belongs to. Please kindly go though the link, he has been listed among those top 10 alumni of NIFT, and even published in NIFT official website. [1] So no need of any deletion request or debate on this particular article. Please i request you to kindly remove the deletion purpose tag from this article for a better wiki experience on such public figure profile and i request you kindly protect such article, where people keep trying to defame such public figure articles. Its a humble request to you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Novelbuzz (talkcontribs) 07:12, 29 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Edits

[edit]

This event (details below) annoyed me. The response to my edit has put me off editing.

Back story: Cholsey and Wallingford Railway has been celebrating its 150th anniversary and we noticed that the relevant date given by the only book about the line (Karau and Turner: The Wallingford Branch) was 9 July 1866 but the railway website showed 2 July 1866 without a reference. I investigated and found the source to be a digitised local newspaper and did my best to provide a helpful reference.

This was promptly changed with a comment which seemed intended to annoy. Previously my errors have produced courteous responses on my talk page explaining what I should have done. This time I am demotivated by the response.

Please advise

Cholsey and Wallingford Railway[edit] RE: 18:38, 19 July 2016‎ Redrose64 (talk | contribs)‎ . . (8,805 bytes) (-30)‎ . . (Undid revision 730488947 by Sherwin35 (talk) we don't need to know which library you found it in. What we *really* need are article title and page number).

The British Library Newspapers is an online collection of digitised newspapers accessible free to all members of any public library. When one searches for a topic, the information provided does not include page number. In this case I searched for Wallingford and Watlington Railway.

It seems to me important that other users should know that the information is verifiable online and not by physical search. The wording follows Afterbrunel on the Wallingford Branch page references to data from digitised newspaper collections.

I hope you will agree to my restoring the original wording, please.

Issues in uploading on Wikipedia

[edit]

Dear @Ansumang:The process of uploading on Wikipedia tends to be harassing. If people want facts to be proven with documentary evidence, it is impossible to do so in all instances. Illustratively, for a person who was born 100 years ago, how does one produce a birth certificate? The examples are many. For well known public figures, there is enough in the public domain as evidence.

Even on evaluation of the person's contribution in his chosen field, if it is based on serious research and it is mentioned in references, there should be no problem in accepting it.

As an illustration, the case of Acharya Devendra Nath Sharma is relevant. Please go through the correspondence.

It was done on the lines of the entry of Ram Avatar Sharma. All evidences were given in references.

As of now, even in uploading positions he held, there is a problem. On the other hand, wrong facts are given about him. Illustratively, he was never the vice-chancellor of Bhagalpur University. He is shown as one. This sort of situation hurts the credibility of Wikipedia. You may like to consider setting the corrections in motion.

You've been unsubscribed from the Feedback Request Service

[edit]

Hi ansumang! You're receiving this notification because you were previously subscribed to the Feedback Request Service, but you haven't made any edits to the English Wikipedia in over six months.

In order to declutter the Feedback Request Service list, and to produce a greater chance of active users being randomly selected to receive invitations to contribute, you've been unsubscribed, along with all other users who have made no edits in six months.

You do not need to do anything about this - if you are happy to not receive Feedback Request Service messages, thank you very much for your contributions in the past, and this will be the last you hear from the service. If, however, you would like to resubscribe yourself, you can follow the below instructions to do so:

  1. Go to the Feedback Request Service page.
  2. Decide which categories are of interest to you, under the RfC and/or GA headings.
  3. Paste {{Frs user|ansumang|limit}} underneath the relevant heading(s), where limit is the maximum number of requests you wish to receive for that category per month.
  4. Publish the page.

If you've just come back after a wikibreak and are seeing this message, welcome back! You can follow the above instructions to re-activate your subscription. Likewise, if this is an alternate account, please consider subscribing your main account in much the same way.

Note that if you had a rename and left your old name subscribed to the FRS, you may be receiving this message on your new username's talk page still. If so, make sure your new account name is subscribed to the FRS, using the same procedure mentioned above.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the Feedback Request Service talk page, or on the Feedback Request Service bot's operator's talk page. Thank you!
