You can use "Email this user", but I will probably reply on your talk page, or the article talk page, as discussions should be open and on the record.
I have experienced problems with e-mails not being delivered, so please leave me a message on this page if I have not replied within 48 hours.

Broadcasted

[edit]

The Wiktionary definition of Broadcasted states the use is sometimes proscribed, so it should not be used. The word also appears on Wikipedia:Lists_of_common_misspellings/B

Broadcasted appears in some dictionaries, but others, e.g. Chambers state "Sorry, no entries for Broadcasted were found".
Broadcast appears in all dictionaries, and should be used as COMMONALITY - "Wikipedia tries to find words that are common to all varieties of English".

A May 2023 search for Broadcast gave over 234,000 uses, compared with a search for Broadcasted which gave just 99.
Of these, 16 are redirects to "Broadcast" articles, 14 refer to a 2015 Canadian TV award and 5 relate to a 1924 cartoon. The rest are in quotations.

Articles for Deletion

[edit]

Greetings, Arjayay. I noticed that you have edited the Brian D'Ambrosio page. This to me is a very strange page. It has been deleted before, but now it has returned. What troubles me is that a) it doesn't meet the notability requirement b) that Wikipedia could start pages for anyone under the same circumstances, since all of the same information is copied on various new sites. All cases are recycled in all of the same papers. But none of them are on Wikipedia. It seems like this minor person and subject has been singled out for some reason. Wiki is supposed to an encyclopedia. There are far more worthy people and events. I am hoping that you would propose it for deletion, or delete it. - AZ 2601:8C3:8684:5A80:7566:7C69:629:7950 (talk) 21:11, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello IP - all I did was a routine change of A > An - I know nothing about the subject, so cannot comment on its suitability, but I don't need to know anything about it to change A > An.
The article was deleted in 2016, but recreated in 2017, so has been an article for well over 7 years, without being deleted. As I am not an admin, I cannot delete the article, even if I thought that was correct. As for proposing it for deletion, if you think it should be deleted than please propose that at WP:AFD, giving your detailed reasons. - Arjayay (talk) 21:28, 23 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of name

[edit]

Hi @Arjayay, I noticed that you removed Karthik Raj's Tamil version of their name from the site. Care to explain why? I think as an actor of a Tamil origin, including his name in his native language is appropriate. 7mocha7 (talk) 04:23, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi 7mocha7
As was clearly stated in my edit summary "Rm Indic script as WP:NOINDICSCRIPT" We do not add any Indic scripts to the info-boxes or lead sections of any of our Indian articles, with very limited exceptions e.g Hindu gods and articles about the script itself. For full details please read WP:NOINDICSCRIPT - Arjayay (talk) 10:04, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Ōkahu Bay

[edit]

Hello Arjayay,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Ōkahu Bay for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles.

If you don't want Ōkahu Bay to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Complaint

[edit]

May I bring your attention to my inputs on Awo Omamma, Umuezukwe, Imo State, and Imo West Senatorial District. The subject Christopher Ononukwe fulfills the wikipedia requirement of WP:NAUTHOR. Please do not delete my edits again. Nwachinazo1 (talk) 18:19, 26 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

No Nwachinazo1 you and IP:102.90.98.125 have been trying to force an addition about a non-notable person and their book in the lead sections of multiple articles.
If and when Christopher Ononukwe ever gets a Wikipedia entry, he could be mentioned in the relevant section. However as seen [1] in this list of mentions of Christopher Ononukwe, it can be seen that the draft article about him was deleted. - Arjayay (talk) 18:37, 26 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia says "People are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject." Christopher Ononukwe, may not have had a Wikipedia page, he passes Wikipedia notability test and/or particularly WP:NAUTHOR on one or two requirements of creative professional. Please consider this. Nwachinazo1 (talk) 18:50, 26 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Your Draft:Christopher Ononukwe was refused 6 times, before it was eventually deleted - Your draft did not, therefore, show that he passes Wikipedia notability, so there is little point in claiming the opposite. - Arjayay (talk) 19:42, 26 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Seconded. Further attempts to shoehorn him into more articles will be rejected and reverted. — Watercheetah99 (talk) 20:17, 26 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

About Jakhar reassurance

[edit]

It appears that this Jakhar page was originally meant to serve as a disambiguation page, but someone intruded and attempted to repurpose it into a different narrative, thereby altering its intended purpose. Although I initially worked to rectify this and revert it to its original state, no one accompanied me in re-initiating the corrections. Therefore, I propose that this page should once again be restored to its previous form as a disambiguation page, as it was never meant to serve as a historical account of Jakhad or Jakhar Jats. This ensures clarity and prevents content hijacking 92.99.38.202 (talk) 17:09, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@ArjayayNot only for this time i strongly believe this article was originally DAB Page as you said earlier so it dosent need any user defined monologue or articulation but somehow i get now about [2] this exegeted revision of this dude prior to stable version 92.99.38.202 (talk) 17:20, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you disagree with the move, I suggest you discuss it with User:Sgeureka, the administrator who moved the page, but please stop deleting the reference and referenced information, and adding an unsourced claim. - Arjayay (talk) 18:27, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:PARTIAL and WP:DABMENTION, I am not sure that Jakhar actually needs to be a dab page, but I wouldn't fight it either. I only did the page move from Jakhar (surname) to Jakhar per WP:INCDAB because: (1) Jakhar (surname) is the wrong disambiguator, and (2) Jakhar (disambiguation) makes no sense without a primary topic article named Jakhar (which doesn't exist). – sgeureka tc 20:50, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Did you read the lead? One of the worst I've ever seen. Doug Weller talk 16:05, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry Doug Weller WP:ADoS doesn't mean a lot to me - please could you translate? - Arjayay (talk) 16:15, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm an idiot. American Descendants of Slavery where you deleted a redundant word. Doug Weller talk 16:44, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't read it all Doug, I just removed the duplicate word. I see that in this edit User:Favonian removed the protection with the reason "Testing whether long-term protection is still needed:" - It was only semi-protected, but suddenly attracted a rash of edits from a new account, I'll let him decide - Arjayay (talk) 16:56, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
As will i. No problem. Thanks. Doug Weller talk 16:57, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
To put "suddenly" into perspective, I removed the protection following this request from the editor in question. They are currently four edits short of auto-confirmed status, and IPs etc. have not rushed in to join the fray, so I'm resisting the temptation to re-protect. Favonian (talk) 17:21, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. Doug Weller talk 11:22, 31 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
